The challenge
Schools are facing growing pressure to manage psychosocial risk. It is also a requirement to do this in consultation with staff. For Natalie Kurelja, Head of Wellbeing, this means in consultation with 145 staff. Limited resources, budget and time make it challenging for Natalie to do this.
The solution
Skodel collaborated with Natalie to develop the following:
- Psychosocial risk assessment template: We designed a psychosocial risk assessment with risk scenarios identified for schools and a library of control suggestions specific to schools.
- Psychosocial survey (1 minute): We designed a psychosocial risk survey specific to education. The survey on average takes one minute to complete, it is run twice a year and data from that survey feeds into Natalie's risk assessment.
Here is an overview of what this approach looks like
What workers are saying
“Skodel is a quick and simple way for me to provide feedback on the design of the working environment. I can say that staff really value leadership for bringing this on. It’s a very practical tool.” Teacher at BGS
What leaders are saying
"Skodel's process has been incredibly simple. It fits perfectly inside a busy school environment and has helped me wrap my head around what psychosocial risk management and compliance actually involves. The way the data from the survey feeds into the risk assessment is intuitive and it gives us great insight for the board reports. Nothing overwhelming, just a very practical and helpful approach. Exactly what we needed from a psychosocial risk management standpoint."
